About my travels, meeting people, adventures, food and culture
When I learned that I am going to have a business trip in Europe, one of my wishes is to spend my birthday in Rome, and so it happened! I was so happy.
Being in the Eternal City is one of the wish list (I think aside from Paris) of every Filipinos. There is this charming feeling that Rome has, it may not be one of the most romantic cities but because of the history and architectural buildings they preserved may be the reason why people like to go to Rome. One reason also is this is where the Pope resides. Every year many people come to Rome for pilgrims and a chance to see and meet the Pope even if they only see him at a glance due to his busy schedule and a very strict security staff.
Few good things happened to me during my visit in Rome. One of these was when a seminarian gave me a ticket to get inside the Church. Pope Francis did not do his usual Holy Mass at the St. Peter’s Square but he gave the Holy Mass inside the St. Peter’s Basilica, so we need ticket to get inside. Luckily, I bumped into this good person and gave away the ticket. What a nice birthday gift for me! 🙂
The next day I went to Vatican Museum where the famous painting of Michelangelo can be found – “The Creation”. Even if the security staff kept on reminding everyone not to take pictures inside the Sistine Chapel, I didn’t listen. It was my only chance to see and admire the painting. I was amazed how Michelangelo painted such a beautiful art in 3D and that was during 1512’s! The picture I took was not that clear and not in high resolution but the memories and admiration on the painting will not fade even when I get old.
Here are the “few” pics I have taken during my trip and hoping that I could go back to Rome someday.
